Features

Data
Members have access to the following data and features:-

Cases

MCLJ Publications
These currently contain all Current Law Journal and Supplement decisions reported in MCLJ printed publications from 1981 to present day. In addition the Industrial Law Reports are included from 1980.

Members are able to print out judgments in .pdf format in exactly the layout in which they appear in the MCLJ publications.  This facility allows members to see and use page numbers and paragraph lettering just as if they had a printed copy of the judgment.  This feature alone is worth over RM10,000 of hard copy journals.

LN Series (LNS)
This series is cases that have not been published by MCLJ.  Significant and selected cases from 1894 to present day are available to members.   These cases are generally not head-noted though some have catchwords.  We are constantly adding cases to this database.  We have the largest database of Malaysian cases, including previously unpublished cases.  New cases are added to the LNS on a regular basis.  If the case is sent in digital format by the court (i.e. on disk or by email) MyLawBox will always publish it and usually within 24 hours of receipt.  MyLawBox actively encourages all courts to send judgments in digital format.

Case Citator
This feature is unique to MyLawBox.  Quickly find all cases that subsequently refer to a particular case simply by clicking on the link "CASE CITATOR" on the case.  This will save you time getting the latest information on a particular case.  The cases found are all those cases that are linked to the original case. You can find more cases this way than currently available in any hard copy reference.  Of course the citator is updated every time a new case is added to the database - you can be sure of finding the latest information.

Legislation

Malaysian Principal Legislation
This consists of all Federal Numbered Acts from Act 1 to present day.  There are over 700 such enactments.  In addition several Rules are available.  Any new enactments are put on-line as soon as we have them in electronic form.  All legislation is consolidated - i.e amendments are incorporated into the Acts soon after they are in force.  Changes are noted on the Principals Acts. In 2002 we are working on versioning several of these acts so that members can see the act as it was at a specified date.

Malaysian Subsidiary Legislation
This consists of Selected Rules and Regulations from the PUA series - dating from 1957.  There are over 300 such rules and regulations. These are updated with amendments.  MyLawBox will add more additional Rules and Regulations, as they are available in the future.  In addition all PUA's from 1999+ are included.  Lists of other PUA and PUB's are included.

Malaysian Amending Acts
Amending Acts A500+ are available in full text. Lists of all Amending Acts from Act A1-500 are provided.

Malaysian Bills
The current year's Bills of Parliament are available - these include Bills of Principal and Amending Acts given their first reading in the Malaysian Federal Parliament.

Malaysian Treaties
This database has over 80 Multilateral Treaties and Conventions to which
Malaysia is a part or full signatory all in full text.

Act Noter-Up
This feature is unique to MyLawBox.  Quickly find all cases that refer to a particular section simply by clicking on the link "ACT NOTER-UP" on the section.  This will save you time getting the latest information on a particular section of legislation.  The cases found are all those cases that are linked to the section. You can find more cases this way than currently available in any hard copy reference.  Of course the Act Noter-Up is updated every time a new case is added to the database - you can be sure of finding the latest information.

Legislative Forms

This is a database of forms taken from the Schedules of Principal Acts, Rules and Regulations, that can be browsed or searched by members. The forms are available as editable files - so they be edited using a word processing program.

Words & Phrases

This database is a collection of all the MCLJ published cases where the head note contains the Catchword "Word and Phrases".  The data consists of over 300 words / phrases with short judicial interpretations.  The descriptions are linked to the judgments for fuller research.

Translator

This is a database of Legal terms translated from Malaysian to English and from English to Malaysian.  Over 4,000 terms are translated for use in legal research.  Users are encouraged to add to the database or offer variations to the translations already present.
